This is our template for our Magazine Advert, we are now going to decide on an album cover or image to put in the middle of the advert. I will upload our drafts and then decide on a final one. We struggled to get the typography but eventually got it and we are very pleased with our template. We have quoted from music magazine which is effective as it will show people that it is a well acknowleged album and a lot of people like it. It has all of the information that we saw on other magazine adverts in our research.
You've included some interesting research here, Chloe, at least with respect to print products. However, I'm concerned that you're falling into the trap of quantity over quality. You need to go into a lot more detail about the relevance of the material you are including, particularly when posting your own work. There needs to be a clear line of sight from existing products such as the magazine adverts you've included and the one you've designed. You must explicitly explain why you've included certain features in relation to the design work.
ReplyDeleteYou also need to make sure that you are producing detailed analysis of the research you have undertaken. This includes explaining (in relation both to key concepts and technical considerations) how you consider the products you've researched to work and what you understand about the production aspects. This should relate to your developing design work (so, for example, from what you've seen, what effects would you like to create?) In particular, you should be considering generic and media language aspects, since you've shifted projects.
You also need to make sure that you are including some comments about Greg's blog, particularly the areas he has been working on (storyboarding the video, reasearching music video). These should not be verbatim copies of Greg's posts but your own interpretation of his research, and your understanding of your role within the video production.
At the moment, your blog is riding on the L2/3 cusp; your initial movie work is good, but the music promotional stuff is less successful, and you need a significant upshift if you are to achieve the standards you reached last year. Take a look at Ruth Trigger's blog from last year (there is a link from my blog) - this should give you some ideas.
