The defamation of Strickland Banks

This album cover is Plan b’s second album cover ‘the defamation of Strickland banks’ I have found that Strickland banks is a fictional character played by plan b. Many of the songs are about ‘Strickland banks’ there are a few love songs which may be him promoting the idea that it is okay to talk about love etc. The cover is effective as it is very dark; most of it is black which has connotations of evil and danger, as does the colour red which is the colour of the bottom of the stage that he is sitting on, however the red also may be used to connote the love that he talks about in some of his songs. There is a very noticeable spotlight shining on him which may be used to give the idea that he has came out from a bad time and is now in a good place or maybe to suggest that he has changed as a person; white is used a lot to connote purity which it is being used for here. The board above him with the album title on it seems to be quite old fashioned; the type of board that would be on an old cinema, this may be used just to give good effect or to tell the audience that Strickland banks is a character that he plays when he is performing. He is sitting with his head down which could be him taking a bow or showing how he feels. The album cover is quite simplistic but very effective.
