Saw trailer

This trailer is very effective as it begins with a man being watched and not knowing if someone is there or not, we see him being very stressed as he does not know who is there, we then see something jump up to the camera which makes the audience jump as it is very dark; the sound effect at this point is also very effective as it is a screech which is quite scary for the audience. The whole setting throughout the trailer is very dark and dingy which reflects the mood of the film as it is about scaring people and torturing them. Immediately after we see something jump up to the camera the sound goes very loud with a thunder and lightning sound, then the lionsgate logo comes up and straight after the twisted pictures logo comes up. While showing the distribution logos the trailer still manages to keep the feeling of terror throughout the trailer. The sound effects at this point are also very effective as in-between the logos it has a heartbeat which suggests the fear that the film will give. After this point it shows 2 men which seem like prisoners in a dirty room. Then the is a strange sound and the puppet face appears, this is spooky as it is unfamiliar to the audience.  We then see the men being watched on tv which reinforces the idea that they are prisoners. The trailer then cuts to an image of lots of newspapers with information about ‘the jigsaw killer’ there is then a voiceover saying ‘the jigsaw killer’ which is very eerie. We then see a man behind barbed wire and trying to get out; this again reinforces the image that this man keeps prisoners. The spooky voice then says that if this man doesn’t get out then his girlfriend will die, this is very hard to comprehend with as no one can imagine being in that situation, this makes the audience want to watch further as they want to see what the man ends up doing.  The words ‘MADMAN’ then come up on the screen with an effective sound effect. We then see police investigating the scene which is very gripping as it means the audience will want to see what happens to him. We then see the man saying ‘He wants us to cut through our feet’ this is unimaginable to the audience and makes them cringe but it is a bigger reason to go and see the film because they need to see what happens. We then hear the voiceover say ‘you are ungrateful to be alive’ this makes the man seem strange as the people don’t seem to be. The trailer then cuts to a girl saying ‘help me’ after being told she is a drug addict and has been picked by the man because of this. There is a lot of emotion shown as we see the man intouch with his girlfiend on the phone but we are unsure what happens as the trailer ends which is effective as it will mean that people go to the cinema to see it. One of the last images in the trailer is of the man sawing his leg this is effective as it scares the audience. At the end there are many different slips of the film at this point in order to get the audience gripped and wondering what is going to happen.
